Slamovision preliminary round Bremen - You decide!
On June 10, a special edition of Slam Bremen will take place in the Lagerhaus: The preliminary decision for Slamovision 2026!
Be there when the best slam poets in the region slam for participation in the international competition in Iowa City (USA) - and you as the audience decide who will represent Bremen!
The format of Slam Bremen will not change completely as a result of this preliminary decision: of course, we will still have a star guest!
Star guest at the Slam Bremen Slamovision preliminary round: EVA MATZ
SPOKEN WORD - FILM - THEATER - MUSIC
Eva Matz is a spoken word artist, author, theater and film maker and musician. She is regarded as the political voice of Bremen's poetry slam scene - her poetry is unsparing, socially critical and personal. After traveling and street music, she was thrown out of her law studies and has since lived as a freelance artist - between stage, camera, text and music.
She performs throughout Germany and internationally at poetry slams, festivals and literary projects, is co-founder of the award-winning Luxus Filmkollektiv and curates her own stage formats, such as Slam Bremen. Her short films such as Ich will nicht laut sein müssen and ZYKLUS have won numerous international awards. She has been the winner of the Bremen Women's Culture Award since 2025.
She gives workshops for creative writing, poetry slam and performance at schools, universities, theaters and for the Goethe-Institut.
Eva Matz works across genres - artistically uncompromising and with a clear attitude.

What is the Slamovision?
Slamovision is the international poetry slam competition of the UNESCO Cities of Literature - inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest. Each year, the previous year's winning city hosts the competition. In 2025, Slamovision took place in Dublin - Sven Kamin competed for Bremen and took a magnificent second place with his text Robot. In 2026, Iowa City will host - and you can be there with your performance!
How does it work?
The UNESCO Cities of Literature send in a professionally recorded video - one take, one text, pure performance.
The contribution for Bremen will be performed in German and subtitled in English.
The video will be produced by a professional videographer - you can have a creative say in how your text and the city of Bremen are presented.
What is important?
Your performance: max. 4 minutes, live on June 10
Your topic: Globally relevant content is expressly welcome
Your application for the pre-selection: Your short CV
Please also send us a video link to one of your performances
And if you win?
Then you will be Bremen's participant in this special, international competition, your video will be streamed live worldwide - and maybe YOU will win the title and then Slamovision 2027 will take place in Bremen thanks to your slam text!
