Jonah didn't hesitate for a second. "No. Of having to go out of the whale into the world again."

On Thursday, May 21, 2026, Mikah Rose will read from his novel "Jonah is a Boy" - a moving story about identity, friendship and growing up.

Jonah grows up in Bad Zwischenahn as a transgender boy. Between conflicts with his father, challenges at school and his own self, he finds support from friends like L and Malik. And perhaps there is also a way back to his brother Markus - after all, they share a love of soccer.

The book impressively shows the highs and lows of life as a trans person and accompanies Jonah on his very own path.

About the author:

Mikah Rose (he/him), born in 1997 in Wendland, is an autistic, transgender author. With two master's degrees from Oldenburg, writing is the most important way for him to communicate with the world.
