There's one sure sign that you've made it in the music business: When you've gone your own way for four decades, by your own rules, at your own pace - and your influence has grown and grown along the way. Every release is better than the last. Bruce Springsteen brought you on stage to play one of your songs together. There have been ups and downs, good days and tragic ones, but every night you give 100%, and the next morning you get up again, ready for the next hit.

That's the short version of the Social Distortion story. The long version could easily fill a ten-part series. For over 40 years, the punk rock pioneers have carved out a firm place for themselves in the musical landscape with their unique sound. Their unmistakable mix of raw rockabilly and punk rock, paired with the melodic, true-to-life lyrics of frontman Mike Ness, is their trademark. Their piercing guitar riffs and powerful rhythm section sound just as lively today as they did in 1982.

Mike Ness tells stories about love, loss and life's lessons - and the fans empathize. "The most common thing I hear is: 'Man, your music helped me through some tough times'," says Ness. "And I always reply, 'Me too'."
