Solar kühlt – auch ohne Stromnetz! Workshop

We love summer, we love the sun, we strengthen solar energy in Ehrenfeld.

With the Sommer Sonne Solar project, we at ökoRAUSCH want to promote the joy and interest in solar energy, break down inhibitions in dealing with technology and empower us all to harvest the sun's energy. Our goal is as clear as day: we want more PV modules to be installed on Ehrenfeld's roofs and balconies, on garden sheds and bicycle ports!

Whether you are a tenant or owner, whether you have a balcony, roof or neither - discovering and learning about solar energy can be interesting and relevant for everyone. Because solar energy makes happy - that's a promise!

That's why we are bringing together various players and formats to offer easily accessible, free advice and information:

Solar fridge workshop: How does a fridge that is powered by just two solar panels work? And how can solar energy provide light, cooling and energy storage - without being connected to the power grid?

In this interactive workshop, led by Julian Krüger, we discover the basics of solar technology using real, hands-on devices. A solar lantern illustrates the interaction between solar module, energy storage and consumer. We then take a look inside a solar refrigerator, which is operated solely with two solar modules, and examine the integrated cold storage units. A solar cooling unit shows how the same technology is also used in larger cooling systems.

With practical examples and videos from projects in Kenya, we will cover the range from small off-grid applications to solar-powered cold stores for agriculture and food supply.

And best of all: there will be a cool drink for all participants - cooled with solar energy, of course!

No previous knowledge required - curiosity is enough.

Where: Ehrenfeld community center (BüzE) - outside in the traffic circle in good weather, inside in the BüzE (corner room) in case of rain
