A great white shark is terrorizing a bathing island on the American Atlantic coast. Prudent locals, led by police chief Brody, want to close all the beaches and launch a big hunt, while the crowd of merchants and innkeepers prefer to go back to business as usual in view of the profitable bathing season. When the shark strikes again, Brody forms a hunting team with the experienced shark catcher Quint and the oceanologist Hooper and tackles the enemy at sea. Three men fight a great white shark that is threatening a beach on the east coast of America.
