On 21.6.202 at 10:24, the sun reaches its highest point in front of the fixed stars this year. The sun rises in Bremen at 04:58 and sets at 21:54 - making the longest day 16 hours and 56 minutes long.
There are many archaeoastronomical buildings around the world that are aligned with the summer solstice. Works of art with an astronomical reference are much rarer. One of these is by land art artist Nancy Holt. It is the Sun Tunnels from 1976 near the abandoned village of Lucin in the Utah desert. The axes of the tubes are precisely aligned with the solstices. This creates an analogy to Metalhenge:

From 20:00, artist Thomas Roth, astronomer Dieter Vornholz and staff from the Olbers Planetarium will be present at Metalhenge to answer questions.
