Sommersound im Musikpavillon

During the 2026 summer break, the 35th edition of SommerSounds will take place at the Stadtgarten in Gelsenkirchen on five Sundays (July 26 through August 23). Each evening, two acts will take the stage—at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The venue is the stage at the music pavilion in Gelsenkirchen’s Stadtgarten. 

July 26
6:00 p.m. – Lina Bó(Germany) blends South American exoticism with German folk-pop.
7:30 p.m. – AN ERMINIG(D) offers a musical retrospective of 50 years of band history, traditional Celtic dances, and personal anecdotes.

August 2
6:00 p.m. – Laura Cortese & Bert Ruymbeek(Belgium, USA) present an emotional, groovy blend of Americana roots and lyrical accordion.
7:30 p.m. – The Paul McKenna Band(UK) combines traditional folk with modern, authentic songwriting.

August 9
6:00 p.m. – Palm Bay Frost(Germany) blends handcrafted acoustic folk from Ireland, Scotland, America, and Central Europe with a modern sensibility.
7:30 p.m. – Tribubu(Germany) blends Spanish guitar, cajón, electric bass, and the West African balafon into a boundless world music sound.

August 16
6:00 p.m. – Sarah McQuaid(UK) is a singer-songwriter and a fixture in the innovative folk scene.
7:30 p.m. – Schnaftl Ufftschik(Germany) invite you on a lavish musical brass journey through styles and eras.

August 23
6:00 p.m. – Skupa(Germany) performs rousing arrangements that bridge the gap between Balkan, jazz, flamenco, and free improvisation.
7:30 p.m. – Malikì World Orchestra(Germany) blends Afro and Latin rhythms, Balkan beats, and Gypsy jazz into a boundless musical journey.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the beer garden also opens then. Free admission is available for all events.

The SommerSound concert series stands for a diverse and vibrant music scene in Gelsenkirchen and has been delighting audiences since 1990.
