Pianist, singer, and composer Sophia Oster is one of the most exciting new voices of the young jazz generation. With remarkable expressiveness and

musical maturity, she has long since earned a firm place on the scene. She made her debut in 2021 with the album “Jubilation,” followed by the EP “All Smiles,” on which

she collaborated with, among others, the renowned drummer Jorge Rossy (Brad Mehldau Trio, among others) and the New York saxophonist Bill McHenry. She is currently presenting her new album “Praise,” recorded with a top-tier quartet: the multi-award-winning saxophonist Konstantin Herleinsberger, the experienced U.S. bassist Paul Imm (known for touring with Lee Konitz and Rosemary Clooney), and the virtuoso, up-and-coming Brazilian drummer Rafael Müller.

Oster’s music thrives on deep emotionality and a palpable spiritual dimension. Her subtle piano playing and her warm, resonant voice lend her compositions a special depth and radiance. Her musical expression is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition while remaining open to new directions. Jazz, classical, and gospel merge with influences from Brazilian music to create a soundscape that is multi-layered, personal, and full of warmth. Sophia Oster’s music is multifaceted, colorful, powerful, and at the same time delicate—carried by artistic devotion, palpable authenticity, and musical vision.
