Venue: Room 366
Sophie Scholl (1921-1943) wrote a diary during her youth until shortly before her death. In doing so, she left behind a vivid impression of her struggle for spiritual truth. Her self-testimonies make her journey directly tangible - from the 16-year-old, tossed about by strong emotional fluctuations, to the 21-year-old who sees through and exposes the lies and the National Socialists' desire for destruction. The edition edited by Regina Reisch makes it possible for the first time to read all the surviving diaries in their entirety. For more than 80 years, these were only accessible in excerpts or not published at all.
In cooperation with Allitera Verlag, Regina Reisch will provide a historical context for the texts, which will be read by an actor. The White Rose Institute will open the event with introductory words of welcome.
Regina Reisch, born in 1998 near Tübingen, grew up on Lake Starnberg and studied history and Protestant theology at the University of Kassel. She then trained as an archivist at the Federal Archives. When writing historically, it is important to her not only to get as close as possible to the archive sources, but also to make the life reflected in them tangible.
The "Cohesion in Diversity" day of action organized by the "Initiative for Cultural Integration" will take place on 21 May. Numerous events organized by various organizations, alliances and individuals will set an example for cohesion in our free and diverse society.
In cooperation with Allitera Verlag and the Weisse Rose Institut e. V..
