The Law Library is one of the most beautiful libraries in Munich. Founded in 1843, it moved into the two-storey reading room in the New Town Hall on Marienplatz in 1906, which was magnificently designed by Georg von Hauberrisser.
The gilded, wrought-iron spiral staircases and surrounding balustrades, which reflect Munich's floral Art Nouveau style, are very impressive in the almost ten-metre-high hall. The special atmosphere of the Law Library is also highly appreciated by cultural and specialist event organizers. Together with cooperation partners, the library regularly hosts readings, lectures and discussions.
In the interest of library users, the reading room cannot be visited during opening hours.
