Spacestation (IS)
In the organizer's words:
Spacestation hangs out on the fringes of Reykjavik’s rock clubs and bars, capturing every edgy guitar riff, every driving bassline, and every jagged feedback sound they can get their hands on. Like the Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine before them, Spacestation strives to redefine what noise can be in the context of pop music. Their music combines the inventive use of alternative moods, guitar tones, and feedback with the intensity of shoegaze, catchy Krautrock rhythms, and the attitude of ’60s psychedelia to create a new, pulsating soundscape that makes you want to spend deep, late nights dancing with strangers. The band is at the forefront of an underground scene that resists the slow, market-driven decline of the organic scene. Their music depicts a life far removed from the glitz and hype of Instagram-worthy landmarks and overpriced lattes in Iceland’s capital, leading you into the less glamorous, rougher streets. Their debut album, “Reykjavík Syndrome,” released in March 2025, aims to capture this reality, as well as the joyful anxiety of growing up in a city with endless summer sun and never-ending winter darkness.
