Spielbudenfestival 2026
In the organizer's words:
From July 24 to 26, 2026, it's that time again - Spielbudenplatz will be the scene of transformation. The Corny Littmann Foundation for Art and Culture is bringing international street artists to St. Pauli for the sixth time - where art doesn't need a red carpet, but asphalt underfoot.
There has been a tradition of non-conformity here for over 200 years. The first wooden stalls for jugglers, tightrope walkers and showmen stood here at the end of the 18th century. They gave the square its name - and made it a place where entertainment took place in the midst of life. This is exactly where the Spielbudenfestival comes in.
2026 is all about transformation:
Bodies become a bridge.
Old bicycles become a living herd of machine creatures.
A white figure becomes a collective work of art.
A recorder becomes a spectacle.
A fire engine becomes an acrobatic show.
For three days, Spielbudenplatz becomes what St. Pauli does best: a place where anything seems possible. Juggling, music, magic, building - and painting - take place here. Acrobatics meets clowning, brass meets gospel, magic meets machines. And the audience? Not just standing next to it, but right in the middle of it.
Three days. Countless transformations.
No frills. No entrance fee.
Just art. In the middle of the street.
