Sweat pours from the forehead and runs down the back. The coach gesticulates wildly, the trainer loudly demands a penalty. The final minutes are ticking away. The legs are tingling - then it's done! Relief for everyone, high-fives with the team. The dream of a career in sport makes young people surpass themselves. For many children and young people, such moments of happiness are also associated with friendship and support. And yet it happens that boundaries are crossed in sport. Sometimes this is not clearly recognizable, even for those involved. Many remain silent. But what can be done when adults display abusive behavior? Some sports clubs - such as Fortuna Düsseldorf - are specifically trying to take action against abuse of power and raise awareness of the issue among children, young people and adults with the help of protection concepts.

In cooperation with Fortuna Düsseldorf, the Kinderschutzbund and on the occasion of EURO 2024, the Junges Schauspiel is producing an empowering play for everyone aged 8 and over. "Spielverderber" is a passionate celebration of sport, but also encourages people to say no and get help if something is not okay. The story by author Veronika Maurer follows three narrators and their great love of sport. It is directed by Robert Gerloff, whose energetic and humorous work has already delighted audiences in Düsseldorf on several occasions.
