Today, Kalk is the only district on the right bank of the Rhine to have its own cinema, the Lichtspiele Kalk. Cinemas also played a special role in Kalk in the past: the first movie theater opened on Kalker Hauptstraße in 1908 . At the height of the cinema era in the 1930s, there were three cinemas with more than 1,000 seats on this Kalk cinema mile .
Cinema pioneers and crazy advertising methods, early film experiences and, last but not least, the magic of cinema are brought back to life on this city walk.
