Steve Baker & The LiveWires
Fri June 26 from 7 pm

London-born Steve Baker has long been regarded as one of the great harp players of international renown. He is well known to many fans as the long-time accompanist of blues legend Abi Wallenstein, and his four CDs with guitar virtuoso Chris Jones, who sadly died far too early in 2005, are still considered groundbreaking today.
Now he has also made a name for himself as a songwriter and frontman and has released three CDs of his own cross-genre compositions on Timezone Records within just a few years. His songs radiate with attitude and strike a deeply personal note, reflecting our turbulent times, among other things.
Here, elements of blues, Americana and rock flow together with a touch of funk and gospel to create an exciting synthesis. Catchy and lively, the songs combine thought-provoking lyrics with the energy and intensity that have always characterized Steve's work. His unmistakable harmonica style, which is always at the service of the song, is simultaneously rocking and biting as well as lyrical and elegant. In doing so, he generates a creative tension that fascinates.
Together with his great band The LiveWires - with the master of low notes Jeff Walker on bass, the brilliant Yogi Jockusch on drums and Jan Mohr on guitar - Steve Baker succeeds in reinventing himself time and again. His exciting and original sound is perfectly complemented by his inimitable harp playing and rounded off by three-part harmony vocals.
