Jank Kovik hails from Frankfurt and plays folk rock in the broadest sense. Their songs are as unerring as Clint Eastwood, as unflinching as a novel by Cormac McCarthy, and as sharp as the poems of Tennessee Williams. They tell of doubts and refuges, of searching and finding one’s way home, of transience and the beauty of the moment. This accomplished band plays the soundtrack of a generation that has declared war on the Auto-Tune effect. Here, everything is vulnerable, fragile, open—and comes straight from the heart.

Marko Jankovic has gathered a group of musician friends around him to free his songs from the solitude of the singer-songwriter’s existence. Jank Kovik brings together members of past and present bands such as Hammocks, Nanda Zip, Mystic Onehand, The Pershing Case, Skizze Blau, Paul Dimmer Band, and Sushimob. In 2014, the band released its first album, “Refuge,” followed by the EP “Landscapes,” featuring six mostly acoustic, sparsely arranged tracks. Their second full-length album, “Current,” was released digitally in 2022, and they are currently preparing their next recordings. Jank Kovik has had the opportunity to open for acts such as New Model Army and Tito & Tarantula.
