Stuttgart und das Dritte Reich: Auf Spurensuche in der Landeshauptstadt
In the organizer's words:
Stuttgart and the Third Reich
In Search of Traces in the State Capital
In Stuttgart, too, the Nazis seized power through brutal force and plunged the world into the catastrophe of World War II. But who still thinks about that time today? The bombing raids and the subsequent reconstruction have fundamentally changed the cityscape—and yet places like the Old Orphanage, the Hotel Silber, and the Market Square still serve as reminders of that dark era.
On a walking tour through the city center, you’ll visit historic sites where key aspects and events—as well as perpetrators and victims—are highlighted. The tour pieces together fragments that, while unable to fully capture “the banality of evil,” help to sharpen our perspective on this dark period.
The concluding visit to the Nordbahnhof Memorial makes the inconceivable visible and sends a clear message against forgetting.
