With Heiner Goebbels' "Surrogate Cities" as inspiration, the Ballett am Rhein, under the direction of Demis Volpi, is developing its latest creation, an abstract ballet that explores the diversity of sounds and the contradictory nature of urban life.

Ballet director and chief choreographer Demis Volpi is working on his last creation in this function for the Ballett am Rhein to Heiner Goebbels' composition "Surrogate Cities", which breaks rules and forms. Together with his dancers and his team, he embarks on a journey to a full-length abstract ballet, inspired by the multicolored sounds and the powerful wealth of ideas of Heiner Goebbels' work: "Surrogate Cities" traces a metropolitan attitude to life and exposes us to the existential space of the metropolis in its extreme contradictoriness.
