Ingenious double talent: Barbara Hannigan has made a name for herself as a conducting singer. In the meantime, she is concentrating more and more on conducting. However, she has not lost her desire for special programs, and with Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress" she once again presents a very special work.
The "story of a libertine" is about the bon vivant Tom Rakewell. He is not only a gambler who squanders his money and a womanizer with countless affairs. He also doesn't really care about the well-being of his fellow human beings. In short, he's not exactly a likeable character who ends up in a psychiatric ward. For this biting satire on early capitalism, Stravinsky composed a refined, imaginative score that clearly recalls his model, the classic Mozart.
