SWR NEWJazz Meeting: Camila Nebbia
In the organizer's words:
The SWR New Jazz Meeting was launched in 1966; the basic idea of Joachim Ernst Berendt, then jazz editor at Südwestfunk, was to provide improvising musicians with the time and space for creative exchange. During a week-long residency in a radio studio, the invited ensembles rehearse a program, which they then present to the public. Among others, Albert Mangelsdorff, Don Cherry, Irène Schweizer, Norma Winstone, Anthony Braxton, Django Bates, Joachim Kühn, Sylvie Courvoisier, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Steve Lacy, George Lewis, Ikue Mori, Ingrid Laubrock, and Melissa Aldana have been guests at this long-standing workshop series over the past six decades. To mark the 60th anniversary, Berlin-based Argentine saxophonist and video artist Camila Nebbia will now bring a new project to life: “only the stones along the path told me the truth of reality” will premiere at the festival.
