The nationwide recognition of circus as intangible cultural heritage entails the responsibility to critically examine the complex cultural-historical phenomenon of circus in Europe. The Bundesverband Zeitgenössischer Zirkus e.V. invites you to a discursive encounter between European representatives of traditional and contemporary circus companies and associations. Discussing circus concepts and values and making colonial traces in the circus visible is a joint first step towards reappraising and renewing the cultural heritage in the European circus landscape.
