Open Day has a long tradition at the City of Munich. In May 2023, the event, which takes place every two years, attracted around 24,000 visitors to numerous municipal offices. Now, in addition to the Open Day, there is another opportunity to get to know the city administration better: the Open Town Hall Day. For the first time on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Munich residents are invited to go on a tour of discovery in the historic building on Marienplatz - from the law library to the "Meisterbalkon" and the mayor's office.
Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter: "I am delighted that we can celebrate a small premiere with the Open Town Hall Day. From now on, it will alternate annually with the city-wide Open Day. This gives Munich's city politicians another opportunity to present themselves to citizens and explain their work. I therefore cordially invite you to the City Hall on May 11. We have put together an interesting and entertaining program. Of course, my office will also be open for you on this day."
Mayor Reiter will be answering visitors' questions in his office from 10 am to 12 noon. And of course Mayor Dominik Krause, Mayoress Verena Dietl and members of the city council from the parties represented in the town hall will also be available to talk to citizens.
There is also a whole range of other activities on offer. There will be guided tours of the large and small council chambers and the law library. The City Treasurer's Office will provide information about the upcoming reform of property tax and its digital services, the Personnel and Organization Department will present career opportunities at the City of Munich, and the Central Telephone Service will show what is behind the single authority number 115.
If you want, you can also take a look over the rooftops of Munich from the Rathaussturm or wave from the balcony on the second floor towards Marienplatz, the place where FC Bayern Munich celebrates its championships.
The complete offer for the Open Town Hall Day can be found in the program booklet at https://go.muenchen.de/Programm-2024. The booklet is now also available at the City Information Office on Marienplatz.
