1987, no man's land in the border zone - the wall still stands, the fence too, the GDR border and the Cold War are just a stone's throw away. The Bates are formed in Eschwege, Hesse: perhaps the most underestimated, brilliant punk rock band - with Zimbl, the extremely charismatic singer with the incomparable voice.
In 1993, the epic album 'Unfucked - Live' is released, which was partly recorded in our previous location, the OUTPOST, and on which the Bates transform the already legendary song 'Paul ist tot' by the Fehlfarben into a monument of German music history. Also unforgettable is the performance at the Taubertal Festival in 1998, where Zimbl in torn Schiesser Feinripp and underpants has more stage presence than the whole Hamburger Schule put together.
The end of the band came in 2001 and I saw Zimbl for the last time in December 2002 at the Die Happy concert in the OUTPOST. In June 2006 he leaves us for good - and yet he's still here.
