The Cleveland Orchestra / Franz Welser-Möst
In the organizer's words:
Great Emotions
For nearly a quarter of a century, Franz Welser-Möst has been at the helm of the Cleveland Orchestra—a long-standing, close collaboration that has yielded artistic excellence. And as one of the finest orchestras on the American continent, the ensemble is a must-see in the Elbphilharmonie’s USA-themed series. On the program: works that build bridges between the “New” and the “Old” World. Richard Strauss must have been a very proud family man—after all, he set everyday life to music in his “Sinfonia domestica,” which is more reminiscent of the exploits of a daring hero than of a lively visit from relatives. Premiered in New York, this exuberant music was enthusiastically received on both sides of the Atlantic.
