The Dark Offers Fireflies

In the organizer's words:

The Dark Offers Fireflies
Summer Exhibition 2026
Curated by Natasha Marzliak

The Dark Offers Fireflies unfolds throughout June and July 2026 as a constellation of exhibitions, conversations, and artistic gestures situated within the fragility of the present. In times marked by war, the climate crisis, and emerging structures of power, darkness has become one of the defining conditions of contemporary life. Adorno wrote that even in the darkest times, one has the right to expect a form of illumination—not from a light that dispels the darkness, but from one that persists within it. Georges Didi-Huberman took up this same image decades later, describing fireflies as symbols of survival: small, mobile, easily overlooked, and precisely because of that, impossible to be extinguished by the forces that seek to do so. Fireflies, fragile yet persistent, continue to glow within independent spaces, dreams, memories, and artworks. Bleibtreudrei envisions itself as one of these intermittent lights within the city.

bleibtreudrei is an independent art space located on Bleibtreustraße in Charlottenburg, Berlin, launched during Charlottenwalk as an experimental and collaborative platform for contemporary art, research, and public encounters.
