In "The Drop", classical music and club culture merge into a rousing experience: two opera singers are joined on stage by actors from the Junges Schauspiel - accompanied by pulsating beats, touching encounters and a visually stunning set and costume design.

Benny has gone berserk in the club and is now in hospital. His friends wonder why he did it. Could they have prevented it or are they simply drifting apart now? What has changed them so much over the last few years, what lives could they have lived without all the bad news of recent years? While they wait for news about Benny's health, they ask themselves what kind of future they can imagine and what decisions they want to make for their lives. Two opera singers, who they meet again and again, sometimes as nurses, waiters or magical companions, give them the opportunity to see what would have happened if there hadn't been a pandemic: Would their lives have been the same, would they have a better self, greater happiness? Why hasn't anyone noticed how Benny is doing and what if he doesn't wake up? Either way, they have to help themselves. Lutz Hübner and Sarah Nemitz are among the most frequently performed authors of our time. After numerous conversations with young people and scientists, they have developed a text for Junges Schauspiel with strong dialogues, true-to-life characters, a lot of humor and a dose of confidence.

Following "The Boy with the Suitcase", "Antigone" and "Das Pommes-Paradies", Liesbeth Coltof is staging this collaboration with Deutsche Oper am Rhein with composer Matts Johan Leenders as a coming-of-age story between baroque music and ecstatic rave.
