!EAT PLASTIC is the latest work by reggae rock pioneers THE TiPS from Düsseldorf.
A lot has happened since the band wowed the press with their previous album TWISTS'N'TURNS in 2016 and toured Europe extensively. Now more than 8 years, a band break-up and a reunion later, !EAT PLASTIC represents the continuation of the old virtues that were heralded by the new chapter of the band when they re-formed with Ali on guitar and Mirko.
Free of any arbitrariness, the characteristic TiPS mix, which moves between rock, reggae and punk and is unparalleled in the German music scene, once again scores with soulful vocal phrases that are paired with hard riff boards and chilled off-beat. Everything is the same, you might think?
What's new is that !EAT PLASTIC was created entirely by the band themselves, in their studio and under Ali's pen, who was finally able to fully realize the band's new sound as producer. The comic cover, which shows a mutated pizza wandering around a junkyard, was illustrated and completed by drummer J without further ado. Only the master was done by Pete Maher, who had already put the finishing touches to the previous album TWISTS'N'TURNS. Old acquaintance, friend and companion of the group Helge Tscharn enriches the whole thing once again with his iconic press photos: and the record is finished.
The long friendship with Long Beach Records Europe is the logical consequence for the musical home of the record and thus !EAT PLASTIC impressively shows which direction THE TiPS 2024 are taking: community and solidly grown networks over the years as a meaningful muse and creative circle instead of loose, thrown-together connections.
