by Hot Bodies of the Future / Gérald Arev Kurdian German premiere In English language, with German surtitles
What is it about? With the composition cycle "The Transition Pieces", which began in 2024, activist, performer, musician and theater artist Hot Bodies aka Gérald Arev Kurdian explores the transformation of body and sound with the help of music. Inspired by Ovid's "Metamorphoses" and the digital world, the performance combines human and synthetic voices, electric bass, piano, synthesizer and electroacoustics. Between glitches and "invisible" sounds, between reduced melodic lines and microtonal instabilities, Kurdian composes a sound space in which the voice breaks and reinvents itself. Why go there? Hot Bodies aka Gérald Arev Kurdian already enchanted audiences at the Schiller Festival in 2023 with the exceptional musical and poetic evening "X! (un opéra fantastique)" at the Schiller Festival. In keeping with this year's motto, "The Transition Pieces: Chant I" now uses experimental compositional techniques to explore something familiar and universal to us all - the human voice. Insider info: In electronics or gaming, "glitch" refers to a momentary error, a small disturbance. Gérald Kurdian will be a guest at Vorgarten on 26.06.
