The Tubs live on tour in December
A band bio once tongue-in-cheek called The Tubs from Cardiff a "Celtic jangle boyband". This was not so much because their music is reminiscent of the boybands of the 90s or noughties with which this word is so often associated, but because their debut album "Dead Meat" had an almost joyful, juvenile spirit and the cover album was something of an indie boyband dream shot. Songs like "Wretched Lie", "Dead Meat" or "I Don't Know How It Works" were then a single, wonderful indie guitar melody blessing that could well be described with the word "jangle". At a time when dark post-punk was the order of the day in Wales and Ireland, The Tubs were a very welcome antithesis. Even tasteful media such as Pitchfork and the Guardian thought so - and Iggy Pop also played The Tubs on his radio show with raving words.
In December, The Tubs will finally be able to present the new songs live in Germany. Who knows, maybe The Tubs will even have some new material with them. They recently surprised their fans with a great Metallica cover of "Fade To Black", so there could be more to come.
