SHĀ MÒ
Post-punk, Krautrock, Post-rock | Shanghai, China
SHĀ MÒ(沙漠) offers a glimpse into the distant school days of the musicians and friends in Shanghai, China. Reveling in shared memories from their school days creates a new, beautiful, and almost mythical connection to their homeland. The four-piece band SHĀ MÒ (沙漠) blends influences from post-punk, Krautrock, and ’90s post-rock into an energetic set of driving guitars, personal stories, and steadily building tension. Their debut album, “SHĀ MÒ (沙漠),” is a collection of old songs recorded on hot summer days. (Source: Artist)

ELENA RUD
Indie Pop | Munich
ELENA RUD navigates a world of outbursts, despair, and self-deprecating humor. In their songs, the Munich-based indie band addresses topics such as mental health, body positivity, and queerness. The five musicians, led by the eponymous frontwoman, wrap these serious themes in a danceable indie sound with a punk-infused ’80s flair. The charm of Elena’s distinctive, raw voice lies at the heart of this innovative pop music in the vein of the latest German Wave.
In her poetic lyrics, Elena addresses body dysmorphia, anxiety, experiences of sexism, and toxic relationships. She calls this breaking of taboos “Melancholic Love Shit,” thereby giving voice to her generation’s world-weariness—caught between hatred of others and self-hatred, body image issues, and anxiety.
The four guys backing their frontwoman not only support her, but also fight against the toxic ideals by which they themselves are judged—advocating for more vulnerability, insecurity, and glittery makeup instead of dominance, oppression, and aggression.
As depressing as that may sound at first—ELENA RUD is not hopeless. On the contrary. Their presence is self-assured, their message empowering: We all have these problems; let’s finally talk about them. Just like in therapy, they seek an open and honest confrontation with problems—one that can be uncomfortable, and perhaps even has to be. ELENA RUD takes a seat on the imaginary couch and bares her soul. (Source: Eskapaden Booking)
