Thomas Freitag - "Rückzug über die Minen der Ebene"
In the organizer's words:
With his new program "Rückzug über die Minen der Ebene", Thomas Freitag presents an impressive résumé of his more than 50-year career. Born in Bielefeld in 1950, he started out as an actor and quickly became a mainstay of German cabaret. Whether as a member of the Düsseldorf "Kom(m)ödchen" ensemble or as a regular guest on "Scheibenwischer", Freitag left his mark on political satire for decades. What is special about him to this day is his enormous acting versatility: his parodies of greats such as Willy Brandt or Herbert Wehner are legendary, as he not only imitates figures, but also explores them in depth psychologically.
In what is probably his last program, the post-war child Freitag takes stock. With a sharp mind and a pinch of anger, he transforms the nightmares of the present - from AI to human hubris - into great art. He exposes modern man, who immediately abuses every achievement, and confronts the seriousness of the situation with Kafkaesque hilarity. Of course, his trademark should not be missing: The "grandees" from the political afterlife speak up to mock the current "ground staff". Anyone who wants to experience this master of transformation live once again should not miss this finale.
