Thomas Hoepker. My Way, USA

In the organizer's words:

In the exhibition, the work of Magnum photographer Thomas Hoepker and at the same time his adopted home, the USA - in particular New York - are honored in various focal points.

A selection of photographs from Hoepker's first legendary road trip in 1963, which took him across the U.S. for a photo reportage, reveals the extraordinary talent of the Munich-born photographer, who was still an aspiring photographer at the time. Large-format color photographs show New York in the 1980s. The exhibition is supplemented by other well-known, iconic highlights as well as previously unpublished photographs by the former president of the Magnum Photos agency.

About Thomas Hoepker
Thomas Hoepker (née Höpker) was born in Munich in 1936 and is one of the most respected German photographers internationally. He worked regularly from 1959 as a commissioned photographer for magazines and book publications and devoted himself to photojournalism. In 1989 he became a full member of the legendary Magnum Photos agency, which he led as president from 2003 to 2007.

From the beginning of his photography career, Hoepker was intensely dedicated to the tradition of so-called "human interest photography" or "concerned photography." His empathetic photographs reflect a socially engaged, humanistic worldview. Hoepker lives and works in New York.

The exhibition is closed on Sundays and holidays.
