In the organizer's words:
Landscapes are transformed into vibrant bursts of color, gentle gradients, or even small, playful fantasy worlds. Layers of color superimposed upon one another and suddenly flashing hues surprise the viewer and spark curiosity. Mixed media techniques using acrylic, sand, and chalk lend the paintings texture and vitality.
The artist Thurid Stewart completed her state examination for advanced teaching certification in art education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. As a Fulbright scholar, she studied at Immaculate Heart College and the University of California, Los Angeles, and earned a master’s degree in clinical art therapy.
From 1979 to 2006, she headed the Creative Arts Department at the Health Park of the Munich Adult Education Center.
The exhibition opening will take place on October 9 at 7:00 p.m.
