Franzis Lating's compositions evoke memories of the era of cinematic silent movies and are at the same time a strong statement towards the present.
Her works explore the weirdness of being human, show the composer's curiosity for new things or can be understood as an astute observation of the environment and the setting of the same to music. Lating's preference for Romantic music can easily be heard in her pieces, and the influences of Chopin, Satie and Rachmaninov are also unmistakable. Her works are serious, dreamy and passionate, but also show her wit and humor.
