The Tingvall Trio is celebrating its twentieth anniversary with a new album and an extensive tour.

Tingvall Trio is melodious jazz with neo-classical elements, catchy melodies and rampant improvisations. The Tingvall Trio has been successful with this mixture for 20 years. Since its foundation, the trio has worked with the same line-up: pianist and namesake Martin Tingvall, Omar Rodriguez Calvo on double bass and Jürgen Spiegel on drums and percussion. Together they create an unmistakable sound that appeals to more than just the classical jazz audience.

"Birds" is the trio's ninth album to mark their anniversary. Martin Tingvall explains the title: "BIRDS is dedicated to the birds. They are the musicians of nature. They surround us with their music every day and can be incredibly inspiring. You just have to listen carefully. Unfortunately, we often don't seem to do that anymore, too many other sounds surround us and we get distracted. I hope this album can inspire us to perceive the environment around us differently. I myself can already observe changes in the behavior of birds caused by global warming. SOS, it's high time to stop, listen to nature and take action."

Martin Tingvall has always been responsible for the compositions, which are then worked out together until they are ready for recording. The album has everything it needs and contains the familiar virtuoso Tingvall trio sound as well as introverted moments and catchy ballads. In addition, there is the digitally distributed EP "Three Birds" - three songs from the album recorded with Rhodes, Hammond organ, Moog and hand percussion.

Over the years, the Tingvall Trio has written a success story that is unparalleled in German jazz. Several Echo Jazz Awards as Ensemble and Live Act of the Year, six Gold Jazz Awards, two Impala Awards for international sales, a series of No. 1 albums in the jazz charts and four high rankings in the German Top 100 album charts. With "Birds", this development has now reached its temporary climax.
