Tobias Schorcht is faced with a dilemma. Continue working as a teacher or give in to his longing for an XXL adventure?

Where all roads end, Tobias keeps on walking. But instead of finding enlightenment in harmony with nature, he gets stuck in the undergrowth. From Puerto Montt in northern Patagonia, he takes spectacular detours to reach the Strait of Magellan. Except for five kilometers (rescue operation), his daring plan succeeds. A few friends accompany him for a while, but most of the time he is alone. He is only lonely once. Because what actually makes the expedition special are the helpful and open-minded people in the most remote areas of Patagonia. Marcello lends him a horse and together they ride through a swamp. Leo shows him a way across the notorious crevasses of the Patagonian ice field. Tobias lives with a self-sufficient woman on an island for three weeks. Icebergs drift by outside the window. He helps chop firewood and milk cows. A sheep is slaughtered for Christmas. In the fjord, he encounters dolphins, seals and penguins. Patagonia is one of the last natural paradises on earth. Llamas graze in the vast steppes of the Argentinian pampas. When the clouds glow red in the evening and the tent is pitched, the best time of the day begins. A salmon trout sizzles on a wooden skewer over the fire. Finally, it's time to take a deep breath. The exertions of the day are forgotten. The expedition is beautiful and terribly exhausting. In the sleet, Tobias reaches the Strait of Magellan after more than 3000 kilometers of wilderness. Tierra del Fuego can be seen on the other side of the channel. He has actually made it. And although the expedition was a sporting and mental feat and included first ascents, he is only really proud of one achievement. To have set off in the first place without knowing whether something like this was even possible.
