Tom-Tom Discotec presents: DJ Karriere / Retrogott / Merlin Monroe

Sometimes the best evenings are created where genres have no boundaries, only suggestions. If you were at JAKI a few weeks ago, you could see exactly that: An evening where house and disco merged completely organically into hip-hop and breaks. An experiment on paper, a perfect match on the dance floor. Responsible for this were two people who really need no introduction: DJ Karriere and the Retrogod. The latter is known to travel through the musical space-time continuum with two turntables, a mixer and a microphone, following Funkadelic's motto ("Free Your Mind...And Your Ass Will Follow"). Between eclectic universal hip-hop purism, jazz, funk and spontaneous freestyle interludes, he always finds exactly the right thread to keep the legs moving.

But because, as we all know, you shouldn't split up a functioning team - or as they say in a club context: never change a winning team - Tom Tom Discotec is now calling the duo back for a comeback.

This time, however, the duo will become Trio Magnifico. The two will be flanked by Cologne's local matador Merlin Monroe. Monroe is not a classic transitional DJ, but a collector in the best sense of the word. His selection of rap, jazz, funk, disco and house doesn't just string tracks together; he creates moods that bring a set to life.
