Tors make the kind of songs you'd bawl along to alone in the car with the windows down, just before the last round in a pub full of friends and at packed festival venues all over the world. The British trio, made up of brothers Matt and Theo Weedon and their friend Jack Bowden, rally around driving rhythms, cinematic soundscapes and life-affirming, celebratory anthems anchored by the innate personal and creative connection between them. Having generated millions of streams and played to sold-out houses around the world, this bond between the band members is at the heart of their sound, and it also drives their debut on Glassnote Records.

"This band is a family," Matt explains. "There are ups and downs, but we make up very quickly. It's a brotherhood with the guys, and it's a community with our fans. If one of us isn't doing well, it doesn't work. We're moving towards the same goal. We want to be a big stadium rock band that makes pop songs that mean a lot to people. That's what Tors is."

Matt and Theo hail from the county of Devon and were immediately drawn to music as children. By all accounts, their mother is "a great singer", while their father "might not be the best musician, but he loves music through and through", laughs Matt. Nonetheless, Dad often chose the soundtrack for dinner, and the boys devoured classical albums with their parents.

Their grandfather, Bert Weedon, shone as a famous guitarist in the fifties and sixties. He even wrote a famous guitar instruction book called Play in a Day. Greats such as the Beatles and Brian May visited his childhood home and cited the book as essential reading for learning the instrument. At the same time, he performed with Frank Sinatra. So music has always been in the family's DNA.

In between writing and recording their own music, the brothers honed their talents behind the scenes as songwriters. They landed high profile synchronizations such as 'Perfectly Imperfect' for Declan J Donovan and 'Need You Now' for Dean Lewis, which reached over half a billion streams. Inspired by everything from Coldplay, Oasis, Kings of Leon, The Eagles and Nick Drake to Keane and Snow Patrol, they have also quietly cemented their own style as Tors. Their name refers to a landmark in their hometown and reflects the natural energy that goes into their music.

"There's a huge national park in Devon with all these mountains and rivers," he continues.
"We used to climb these huge rocks called tors. I still go there once a week. It's a really beautiful and spiritual place. We wanted our home to always be in the foreground." Along the way, Tors rose to fame with songs like "Hold Me", "Seventeen", "Don't Cry" and "Empty Hands" reaching millions of streams. In between tours with Sam Ryder, Tom Walker, X Ambassadors and others, they released the Anything Can Happen EP, highlighting the singles "Garden on the Kitchen Floor" and "Colour In The Ordinary". The EP's title track, "Anything Can Happen", hit like a bomb on TikTok and was streamed 3.3 million times on Spotify.

In the summer of 2023, the band signed with Glassnote Records and moved to Woodstock, NY to record their upcoming EP with producer Simone Felice [The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Vance Joy]. A deliberately nuanced approach defined the songwriting and expanded their sound. "Every single thing we put in a track needs a reason to be there," he continues. "We love the wonderful balance of what the three of us can do. It's important that the songs progress and move."

Speaking of which, the single "Miracle" storms out of the gate with unbridled energy, heralding the beginning of their next chapter. The tambourine sets the pace, while lush guitars and a glistening piano punctuate the uplifting verses. It culminates in a towering chorus in which Matt confesses: "I've been waiting for a miracle, maybe one day I'll make it". At the same time, he promises, "I won't slow down until I see my hometown reflected in a mirror, like a light in the sky" "We opened up about some experiences," Matt continues. "It's about being a creative, chasing your dream and constantly being on that path. You hope that one day you'll break through or that a miracle will happen. It's really our life story to be in a band. It's a struggle, but we can't and won't do anything else." That's something the rest of us should be thankful for. "With this music, we want you to know that Tors has landed," he continues. "It's not just about the now. We want this record to still be great 20 years from now. We're here to stay."
