„Toward the Light“ – Cornelia Weber
In the organizer's words:
Cornelia Weber’s photographs depict flowers not only as decorative elements, but also explore questions about the consequences of the human-induced climate crisis and the shifting values in our society.
Since 2019, she has been growing the flowers she works with herself in her garden. Her close connection to the cycles of growth and decay in nature, the laborious work of cultivation, and the deep satisfaction she feels when seeds sprout and flourish have given her floral works new inspiration.
At the Munich Botanical Garden, Cornelia Weber is presenting a selection of her works in the Green Hall at the end of the greenhouses.
About the Artist
Cornelia Weber was born in Rostock. She studied journalism, theater studies, and psychology at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, where she has lived and worked ever since.
Her passion for photography was sparked early on by a makeshift darkroom in the attic of her parents’ home. As a teenager, she began experimenting with an analog SLR camera and developing her own photos, laying the foundation for her creative career. Later, she worked for many years as a freelance photographer for German and international interior design magazines.
