TUNE Installation | Arto Lindsay mit Stefan Brunner. „My Body is Unfinished, a Re-purposed Parade“

In his multichannel sound installation, Arto Lindsay brings the carnival parade of Bahia, Brazil, to life at the Haus der Kunst. Through several speakers distributed throughout the room, drums, pop songs, and traditional chants blend together to create an immersive sound experience. To make the recordings, Lindsay traveled to Salvador de Bahia and collaborated with musical directors of Afro-Brazilian blocos. At the Haus der Kunst, he supplements the material with guitar phrases and spoken text fragments, and inserts pauses that both interrupt and amplify the parade’s rhythm. In this way, the audience is simultaneously swept along and transformed into observers, caught in the midst of a polyrhythm of joy and concentration. Created in collaboration with Stefan Brunner.
