Ugandische Musik und Tänze in Marburg

Noch niemand hat sich das Event gemerkt.

In the organizer's words:

When the drums begin to beat, no one can stand still. The catchy rhythms invite you to dance. And there’s dancing on stage, too, to the sounds of the adungus, the East African bow harps. On August 6 at 7 p.m., the Sosolya Undugu Dance Academy from Uganda’s capital, Kampala, will perform at the KFZ Marburg, showcasing traditional Ugandan dances and music.
The seven-member group is highly professional but not commercially oriented. Rather, it is part of a unique institution in Uganda that has been providing a home and an education to children from difficult family backgrounds for over 30 years. More than 400 children and teenagers are in the care of the Sosolya Undugu Dance Academy. What makes it special is that every child is encouraged to develop their artistic talents, whether in traditional drumming, music, dance, theater, or the visual arts. The Sosolya Undugu Dance Academy has visited Germany many times with groups of young artists, including a performance in Marburg as guests of the Martin Luther School as part of the KinderKulturKarawane. The performances showcase Uganda’s cultural diversity—with its more than 60 tribes and languages—through music and dance.

Together with KFZ Marburg, the German support association, Sosolya Undugu Familie e.V. from Niederweimar, invites you to this musical and dance journey to Uganda. After the Sosolyas’ performance, there will be an opportunity to talk with the artists and the director and founder of the organization, Mark Mugwanya.

Free admission; the association asks for donations. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Sosolya Undugu Dance Academy.
