In the organizer's words:
The guided tour through the "homosexual old town" combines social and urban history in an informative and entertaining way.
The Old Town has been a center of Cologne's gay and lesbian history for 2,000 years. The proximity of the harbor and the winding alleyways fostered a climate in which the red-light district thrived, as did the culture of socially marginalized groups. To this day, legendary pubs remind us of highlights and low points. Monuments commemorate the persecution of homosexuals:
Seemingly inconspicuous objects such as the "Rosa Winkel" - a memorial to gay and lesbian victims of National Socialism - tell fascinating stories.
