We start on the tower of the historic fire station in Lindenthal with a magnificent view over the city. We continue through the city forest into the city center along places of highly amusing episodes from Cologne's fire department history.

At the Colonius, we get a sense of just how free from giddiness the members of the high-altitude rescue team must be, we get a taste of the "founding myth" at the site of Cologne's first fire station, which was one of the oldest professional fire departments in Germany. And marvel at how the Roman Aulus Vitellius set the Praetorium (Roman governor's palace) ablaze during his triumphal procession through Roman Cologne on the occasion of his imperial elevation

At the end, we are thrilled with a domestic pig in the Alter Markt guardhouse, which was not allowed to attract the attention and wrath of the Lord Mayor.
