One thing is clear. There are significantly more castles and fortresses on the Schäl Sick than on the left bank of the Rhine. When you think of castles and knights, you tend to think of the Eifel and the "Romantic Rhine" between Bingen and Koblenz. But Cologne also has a lot to offer in this respect - especially on the right bank of the Rhine. This tour goes in search of Cologne's medieval nobility:
We visit knights' castles, mills and estates, hear about the Lords of Berg, the paper industry, corn mills and the tireless Strunde river that drives the mill wheels.
