Aniko Kanthak, the Cologne-based songwriter, singer and producer, is the creative genius behind Ursi Pfennig. In her search for a suitable sound for her songs, she was inspired by greats such as James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. Her aim was to create a beautiful, atmospheric soundscape that is folky, close and German-language without being profane or kitschy. "Kurz vor'm Schlager abbiegen" - this is how she describes her style, which combines nostalgic songs with a vocal color that offers more vibrato and less soul.
