Mostly bass and drums form watertight, crystalline grooves in VAN HOLZEN. Heavy or danceable, sometimes both. Kiesling's guitar lays rousing melodies on top or accentuated riffs underneath. This music is stubborn and independent. It is Alternative Rock of international format, but in German. VAN HOLZEN succeeds in creating a timeless vision for their kind of rock in a time in which rock supposedly doesn't have it so easy. But: Kiesling, Schramm and Kotitschke have always looked - and listened - to the left and right of the road. The instrumental DNA of hip-hop, the progressive of smart pop music have long been the insignia of their songs.
