In the organizer's words:
John Davidson grew up in a small Scottish town in the early 1980s and developed pronounced nervous tics at the age of twelve. These were only diagnosed years later as Tourette's syndrome and from then on shaped his everyday life. Neither at school nor at home were the uncontrolled movements and spontaneous exclamations recognized as medical symptoms; instead, he was ridiculed or punished. Some 15 years later, John still lives with his mother and struggles with the side effects of strong medication.
