ENERGY OF REBELLION

"Culture and subcultural revolutions are necessary for a free and progressive society. They are currents and sources of life."

This energy, which is reflected in Krisstine Bento-Monteiro's work and her art, stands for this alternative dream, her life and her message. Art that helps us to communicate - art that has a political and socio-cultural function.

Krisstine Bento-Monteiro presents "Energy of Rebellion", her latest multimedia art project. The project has an interdisciplinary focus on digital art, videos, performances, texts and music. The theme "Energy of Rebellion" plays a central role in her work, podcasts, blogs and coaching concepts. It is a central inspiration for her art per se.

Bento-Monteiro's works are intended to reflect the art of living and a provocative attitude. They are considered "excessively rebellious and resistant in their elaboration of social processes through special contrasts and coloration". Signs, motifs and symbols are borrowed from the subcultures, processed and given new meanings.

Krisstine Bento-Monteiro is an intercultural energy factor in the cultural scene with socio-political relevance. Her roots lie in Portugal and France. The different cultures have shaped and inspired her.

After moving to Germany in 1993, Krisstine Bento-Monteiro initiated and managed four socio-cultural centers. As an artist and gallery owner, she ran the ARISTOKRASS gallery in Cologne's city center for five years, where she continuously gave the independent art scene and subculture publicity with extraordinary exhibitions.

Bento-Monteiro shows that "art moves" in many ways. Conceptual art, subculture, gender identity and society are Krisstine Bento-Monteiro's themes. She expresses her own art with an explosion of energy and color.

The upcoming exhibition "ENERGY OF REBELLION" at KUNST KÖLN in the art and culture venue Alte Feuerwache has a special meaning for her.

"The Alte Feuerwache venue and the community center are important symbolic places of socioculture for me. For me, they symbolize the ALTERNATIVE DREAM of a solidary and colourful society in the middle of Cologne. An alternative that was emblematic of my motivation to come to Germany (in 1993) and still is today."
