Versöhnungstheater

In the series of talks Reconciliation Theater Max Czollek meets people who deal with questions of memory. How do societies remember? What does the much-vaunted German culture of remembrance have to do with the question of belonging? What does memory mean for the German, European and international present?

The focus of the series is on the plural present of German society in particular. And on all those without whom this present would look very different. In 2023 the series starts under the motto Ist gewesen, in 2024 it moves on to hätte gewesen sein können, before passing through the phases ist and wird sein, to finally arrive at the future tense 2 of wird gewesen sein können.

The title of the series is also the title of Max Czollek's third volume of essays, published by Carl Hanser Verlag in 2023.
