The table tennis department of 1. FC Köln is looking forward to an absolute cracker of a match. On Friday, November 15, 2024, the reigning Champions League winners 1. FC Saarbrücken will be visiting the cathedral city for the cup quarter-finals from 7 pm. It will be the biggest table tennis match in the club's history to date - and the table tennis department has big plans for the day.

"We're planning a record-breaking match with the biggest table tennis crowd Cologne has ever seen," says department head Gianluca Walther full of anticipation. The FC is even relocating to the ASV-Sporthalle (Olympiaweg 3, 50933 Cologne), where there is room for up to 1,000 spectators. The previous attendance record for table tennis in Cologne is 425.

"We're really looking forward to the game. We fought our way to the quarter-finals with a great team performance and deserve this match," says FC player André Bertelsmeier, who recently competed at the European Championships in Linz. "We hope that the spectators will turn up in large numbers and push us on. We will give our all to put on a spectacle and maybe even spring a surprise."
